Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut’s latest project, ‘Hydrogenase’ offers a dynamic result. It aims to create a self-sufficient organic airship. This conceptual transport system would be comprised of airships that produce biofuel from seaweed. UK Pavilion at Shanghai EXPO 2010 by Thomas Heatherwick

The UK Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai EXPO expresses British creativity and environmental engagement at the biggest event of its kind since the EXPO phenomenon began in 1851 with the Great Exhibition at London’s Crystal Palace. Since then, there have been more than 50 EXPOs – which have also been known as World’s Fairs or World Expositions – and the most spectacular have included those at Chicago in 1893 and Paris in 1900. Finnish Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010

The Finnish pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010 is called ‘Kirnu‘ (‘Giant’s Kettle’). Designed by a team from Helsinki-based architect’s office JKMM, Kirnu won first prize among 104 entries in the design competition, which was announced in May 2008The results were made public in October 2008 in Helsinki. The planning started immediately, and construction began in April 2009, with the pavilion due to be completed in December 2009. The head designer of the pavilion is architect Teemu Kurkela. Spain Pavilion for Shanghai 2010 EXPO

The Spanish pavilion designed by Barcelonese studio Miralles Tagliabue (EMBT) will be one of the biggest pavilions during next year’s World EXPO. The space spanning 7,000 square meters will be categorized under the theme called “Habitable Constructions.”

Main theme of the 2010 World’s Exposition ’Better City – Better Life’ as well as the theme of the national participation under ’Fruits of Civilization,’ had inspired the creators of this winning design to create an imaginary urbanized countryside. This is the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion, designed by Atelier Feichang Jianzhu designed for the the Shanghai World EXPO 2010.
