‘This is architecture that originates from the system of Cidori, an old Japanese toy. Cidori is an assembly of wood sticks with joints having unique shape, which can be extended merely by twisting the sticks, without any nails or metal fittings. Helsingor Maritim Museum by BIG

On September 14th. 2007, Copenhagen architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) have won the competition for the new Danish Maritime Museum in Helsingor.

OMA Wins Competition to Design ‘Beaux Arts Museum’ for Quebec Expansion

OMA has been announced as the winner of the international competition for the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ) expansion. The CAD$90 million project was also consulted with local residents, with an 82% of approval.

‘Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova’ by Groleger Arhitekti

This is a Slovenian architecture project designed by Groleger Arhitekti. The proposal has won the 1st Prize in an international urban and architectural design competition in 2001. Called “White Box” the project is currently under construction in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova is due to be completed in 2011.

Hirshhorn Museum Extention by Diller Scofidio + Renfro

Diller Scofidio + Renfro is responsible for the design proposal of a 145 foot tall inflatable meeting hall which Richard Kohsalek, the director of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (Washington DC), plans to erect at the cultural institution. The large translucent fabric ‘bubble’ will swell out of the top of the museum’s internal court yard, creating an air of lightness, making the building seem as if it were ready to float upwards into the sky.
