‘Fragile Shelter’ by Hidemi Nishida Studio

This project is a temporary shelter in the wild winter forest. Designed by Hidemi Nishida Studio, it leads people to gather, and number of events happened there. Sometimes, local student makes a party at there and sometimes local kindergarten children came there and had a lunch. This is a cozy base for winter activities.

‘Montblanc House’ by Studio Velocity

Studio Velocity designed the Montblanc House in Okazaki, Japan.

The following is a project description from the architects:

“The plan of a house with a small beauty shop on the first floor. A house for a family of four: the young couple running the shop, their 3 year-old girl, and their newborn.

The following is a description from Kengo Kuma:

‘This is architecture that originates from the system of Cidori, an old Japanese toy. Cidori is an assembly of wood sticks with joints having unique shape, which can be extended merely by twisting the sticks, without any nails or metal fittings. ‘Reflection of Mineral’ – a Unique Tokyo House by Yasuhiro Yamashita

‘Reflection of Mineral’l is a 480-square-foot (about 45 square meters) residence located in downtown Tokyo’s Nakano ward. Designed by architect Yasuhiro Yamashita of Atelier Tekuto ‘Reflection of Mineral’ has received wide architecture and design media attention and numerous international awards.

Conforming to legal conditions and in response to the client’s wish for a ‘roofed garage’ the volume was trimmed from various directions. ‘Minerals’ and ‘reflection’ are keywords that help turn the negative factor of elimination into a positive one. Continue Reading →

’9h’ Capsule Hotel in Kyoto

‘9h‘ (nainawasu) is a new capsule hotel that offers luxury in a minimum living space. The ’9h’ capsule hotel and all amenities were designed by Fumie Shibata of Design Studio S, which she founded in 1994. With her team, she defined the elements necessary for a ‘minimal transit space’ in big cities in Japan. The product designer has been pursuing the ’9h’ project as a creative director for 3 years.
