100 villas designed by 100 international architects selected by Herzog & de Meuron and curated by Ai Weiwei.

This villa designed by PRODUCTORA is located in plot #02 of the project called ORDOS 100 (Inner Mongolia, China).

From PRODUCTORA:

“As a starting point for our design a solid brick volume was cut up diagonally into different slices, creating a series of autonomous volumes with different sizes and characteristics. On the ground floor these strips are interconnected through wide passages, generating a complex multidirectional space in which all the day activities take place. Herzog & de Meuron’s ‘VitraHaus’ Video

The ‘VitraHaus’ is a showroom for the furniture factory Vitra, in Weil am Rhein, Germany. The building designed by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron is now open to public.

Earlier this year we featured Herzog & de Meuron’s VitraHaus during its construction phase. Now, we share with you this amazing video by Pedro Kok, a brazilian architectural photographer.

Over the years the Vitra Campus has become an architecture museum, featuring works by the most renowned architects: Frank Ghery, Zaha Hadid, Alvaro Siza, Tadao Ando, Jean Pruvé, Nicholas Grimshaw, Buckminster Fuller and SANAA (under construction).

The ‘Elbphilharmonie’ – Roofing Ceremony for a Spectacular Concert Hall in Hamburg, Germany

This week saw the topping-out ceremony of Herzog & de Meuron’s Philharmonic Concert Hall on the river Elbe in Hamburg, Germany. Called ‘Elbphilharmonie’, the project is in the midst of construction and the architects just released some photos.

The project involves installing the Swiss architects’ new glass structure atop a red brick warehouse built in 1963 by the late Hamburg architect Werner Kallmorgen.

The building will comprise three concert halls, a hotel, apartments, and a public square elevated 37 metres above the river.

Construction is due for completion in 2012.

This villa by Taller Territorial de Mexico is located in plot #97 of the ORDOS 100 project.

‘The scope of the project is to develop 100 hundred villas in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China, for the client, Jiang Yuan Water Engineering Ltd. FAKE Design, Ai Wei Wei Studio in Beijing, has developed the masterplan for the 100 parcels of land and will curate the project, while Herzog & de Meuron have selected the 100 architects to participate. Construction work is due to start in September on ‘VitraHaus’, a new showroom at the Vitra Campus at Weil am Rhein in Germany.
