Amazing Illusionary Perspective Paintings by Felice Varini

Spanning over 30 years, Swiss artist Felice Varini has been mesmerizing viewers with his anamorphic illusions. The artist, who resides in Paris, displays his illusionary work in both private and public spaces. Serlachius Museum Gösta Extension by Matteo Cainer Architects

With offices in London, Paris and Milan, international practice Matteo Cainer Architects have produced ‘Taittogami’, a proposal for the Gösta Serlachius Museum Extension Competition for Gösta, Finland.

Incorporating Gösta Serlachius’s interest of wood and paper processing, the exterior is a series of unfolding roof planes resembling origami which frame the nearby lake and island. ‘Saipua Store’ by Tacklebox

“Located in the industrial neighborhood of Red Hook, Brooklyn, this is a project for Saipua – a small, family- run business dedicated to small batch production of handmade soaps and unique floral arrangements. The store was designed by New York-based architectural firm Tacklebox.

As their business evolved, and having outgrown their original storefront space, the clients sought to relocate their shop in a new facility that could house both production and retail under one roof, without compromising the unique identity that is Saipua. Continue Reading →

‘Pompidou Center Metz’ by Shigeru Ban

In 2003 Shigeru Ban, Jean de de Gastines and Philip Gumuchdjian won an international competition to design Pompidou Center in Metz, France.

The 12,000 m2 cultural complex includes 6,000 m2 of exhibition space all contained under the roof. Three rectangular, cantilevered boxes house parts of the Pompidou Center’s permanent collection in a climate controlled environment. Continue Reading →

‘Kloden’ – Egmont High School in Denmark by CEBRA

Our friends from CEBRA shared their recently awarded Sports Center design with us.

The 3.5 m2 extension will incorporate handicap friendly solutions within a sports facility, as almost 50 % of the students attending Egmont High School experience some form of disability whether it be that they are blind, mentally challenged or an amputee. Five holiday homes by architects Peter Zumthor, MVRDV, NORD Architecture, Hopkins Architects and Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects are nearing completion in England as part of the project initiated by writer Alain de Botton.
